So far it seems nobody at all remembers. I can't help but imagine they did something horrible to us and then made us forget all about it, really.

Not unless you find someone who has the power to trigger surpressed or wiped memories. But I doubt there's someone like that in this place, otherwise they would have spoken up already by now.

Of course it's not surprising, that's what kidnappers in general are like. The Malnosso are just a special case since they managed to drag this many people into a village like this.
